White Belt
White belt given to the beginner(10th or No Kup), Signifies innocence, as that of the beginning student who has no previous knowledge of Taekwondo.

White to Yellow-Stripe

Yellow-Stripe to Yellow
Signifies the earth from which a plant sprouts and takes root as the foundation of Taekwondo is being laid.

4. Twelve-Step Kicking with a 45 & Round-House Kick (Dollo Cha-Gi).

Black-Stripe to Cho Dan Bo
CHO-DAN-BO, means literally, "Recommended First Degree Balck Belt".
This is the most important time for Taekwondo students. It is when students need to prove that they are worthy of testing for their First Dan.

Break: Front Punch + Spin back-kick

Cho Dan Bo to 1st Degree Black Belt (Dan & Poom)
Opposite of white, therefore signifying the maturity and proficiency in Taekwondo, also indicates the wearer's imperviousness to darkness and fear.
1. All Previous Requirements!
2. Koryo & Choong-Moo
3. Hand Movements 91 - 100.
4. Twelve-Step Kicking with 45 & Tornado-Kick (alternate)
5. One-Step Sparring: Must create two of your own.
6. Self-Defense(Hoshinsul): Must create two of your own.
7. Two page essay: "A Brief History Of Taekwondo".(hand written)
8. One page essay: "What It Means To Be A Black Belt".(hand written)
9. Free Sparring (FULL CONTACT WITH GEAR).
10. Must Instruct/Teach One(1) full class(hour) from beginning to end.(required for students 15 and older)
Breaking: Any one(1) of the previous breaking techniques (Decided by the Senior Instructor.) + Spin hook-kick + Jump side-kick + Jump front-kick + Palm strike (Multiple boards for children. One concrete brick for adults.) Must demonstrate all five breaking techniques with 100% effort in order to achieve 1st Dan or Poom.
