Disciplines of Taekwondo

Breaking
Breaking boards or concrete is an excellent way to practice focus, speed, concentration and power on non-living objects without injuring oneself or another.
Forms
Forms are a series of defending and attacking movements put in a set pattern and applied against an imaginary opponent. Forms serve to develop coordination, balance, timing, breath control and rhythm, all necessary and essential skills of the Taekwondo practitioner. Sparring
Sparring is relatively free-form fighting against an opponent. It is full contact in Taekwondo, but pads and protective gear are worn for protection.
Self-Defense
Self-Defense is real life fighting or (street) application of Taekwondo techniques. Not all Taekwondo techniques are applicable in real fighting on the street. Self-defense techniques are practiced with a partner and are not full contact, but will teach you real life scenarios, like defending against a knife wielding assailant.
