Taekwondo Etiquette

Dojang Rules
1. Bow to the Flags and the instructors when entering and leaving the Kwan (school) and the Do-Jang (training hall).
2. Do not enter class late, nor leave early, without the permission of your instructor.
3. Assume the attention position while speaking to your instructor or any other black belt holder.
4. Students shall bow before speaking to an instructor and shall address instructors using proper titles, such as, "Jo Kyo Nim", "Kyo Sah Nim", "Sah Bum Nim", "Kwan Jang Nim", "Mr." or "Mrs.".
5. Always use words of consideration when answering instructors, such as, "Yes Sir/Ma'am" or "No Sir/Ma'am".
6. Idle conversation is not permitted during formal training, testing, nor ceremonies.
7. Ungentlemanly conduct, such as, the use of profanity, obscene gestures/actions, or unnecessary roughness toward fellow students, is strictly prohibited.
8. Students are expected to be courteous and understanding, and are expected to help fellow students.
9. Loud conversation, giggling/laughing, and chewing gum have no place in Tae Kwon Do training.
10. Students that are not actively participating in a class may sit quietly in the training area. (If permitted, use the extra time for stretching and/or conditioning).

11. Personal hygiene is every students' own responsibility. A clean uniform, clean hair, and trimmed nails are mandatory.
12. Jewelry, watches, cell phones, and other like items, should never be worn in the Do-Jang. The only exception will be for wedding bands.
13. Do not hold demonstrations, nor teach Tae Kwon Do, without the approval of the Senior Instructor.
14. Do not engage in any activities that might degrade the code of Tae Kwon Do or the reputation of the School.
15. Students must have the approval of Senior Instructor before entering any tournament competition.
16. Do not participate in any activities held by a martial art school or club, other than the Choson Martial Arts Academy, without the consent of all of the Masters involved.
17. All students are required to wear their Choson Martial Arts Academy uniform and belt to every class.
18. All students participating in scheduled sparring classes should remember to bring their gear and a good martial art attitude.
19. Students should not leave personal items at the school. Choson Martial Arts Academy is not responsible for these items.
20. DISCIPLINARY ACTION WILL BE TAKEN FOR VIOLATIONS OF THE ABOVE REGULATIONS! PENALTIES WILL VARY AT THE DISCRETION OF THE SCHOOL, SUCH AS ...SUSPENSION, REDUCTION IN RANK, OR EVEN TERMINATION OF TRAINING.
