Promotion Testing
1. Regularly scheduled promotional tests will be held at 6 week intervals.
2. All students must satisfy the requirements for length of training, number of lessons attended, required techniques and instructor's recommendation, in order to be eligible to take the promotional test.
3. All test fees and other necessary items, such as photos, written exams, I.D. cards, and registration forms, must be turned in at least one week prior to the test date.
4. If a student fails a test, there will be no fee for the re-test. If the student fails again, a full test fee will be applied to the next test.
5. No special make-up tests will be given for students who can not attend regularly scheduled promotional tests. Students that miss a test, may "double test" at their next promotional test if:
a. The student has registered fully for the missed test and informed Kyo Sa Nim in advance about the inability to attend.
b. The student has registered fully for the "double test".
Otherwise, students will just test regularly for their next rank at the next promotional test.
6. All students should take promotional tests as they are scheduled.
Continuous non-attendance of regularly scheduled promotional tests can be grounds for dismissal from the school.
7. The Cho Dan Bo (recommended 1st degree black belt) may test for 1st degree Black belt 6 months after achievement of Cho Dan Bo. The Cho Dan Bo MUST test for 1st degree Black best within a 12 month period from the day of achievement of Cho Dan Bo. If he/she has failed to define the 1st degree Black belt within the full grace period, he/she will be automatically demoted to Red Belt/Black Stripe and must take the Cho Dan Bo test again. Exceptions will be considered in case of emergency, accident, or by special permission of
Kyo Sa Nim.
8. Special belt recommendations can be made for those students who have had previous martial arts training and/or have made exceptional progress in their physical and mental training in TaeKwonDo and at school.
9. Probational promotion means there are some techniques or requirements to be improved on or met within a set period of time. Non-compliance with the requirements within the grace period will automatically result in failure, and the student must re-test within 6 months thereafter. The requirements imposed upon those students above Red belt must be demonstrated before the judge at the next regularly scheduled promotional test.
10. Conditional promotion means there are some techniques or requirements to be improved on or met before the students will be permitted to take the next promotional test. The requirements will be judged by Kyo Sa Nim. Non-compliance with the requirements before the next promotional test will result in automatic withhold for the following test. He/she must skip one promotional test and wait until the next test is given.
